Hmmmmmmm....

I answered the questions without reading anyone else’s input first, so I would not be biased.

1) Do you feel that the battle ranking system should be altered to be more accessible to new players? If yes, how so?

I guess, yes? I’m torn. On one hand, a new player is excited about coming in and playing, but there is also a great deal of commitment to RP, especially for things that people would actually be all out battling for (territories). It is awesome getting people involved and giving them a chance!

Maybe lower ranks be easier to get to, higher ranks be even more of a challenge? Or, (throwing this out there) reversed? Having low ranks take the time (while interest is still there) and have the higher ranks be a little more non-chalant? Like, you already put in your time, you can sit back a little and chill since you possibly used that for something. The mechanics would be weird and would take a lot of sorting out….

2) How would you feel about a "beginner's luck bonus" being offered to unranked characters, giving them an advantage in their first battle (e.g. an extra point/side of the die)?

Eh…. maybe in written battles instead of dice rolls. It would be really intimidating if you your battle writing skill is at a solid 5 and your unranked horse is going against rank 3 who can write circles around you in their sleep -- but your character is a warrior at heart and Rank 3 insulted their dam.

3) Do you feel the length of time it takes to reach rank 3 is too long? If yes, what do you feel a reasonable length of time would be?

No. When I first did the math I went “UHG” and then sucked it up and committed. Especially if people are getting their ranks purely through dice rolls.

4) Do you feel that dice roll battles should be altered (e.g. count for less exp)? How do you feel about dice rolls for practice? Do they add anything to the game, or should they be nixed?

I like dice rolls for practice and getting your character ‘exp’ for battles. They are really helpful for someone like me who is extremely intimidated by RP battles because it is not my strong suit. It would give my character an extra ‘bump’ in the event I needed to RP a battle out.

I think some players have been enjoying dice battles and DO take the results into their posts, even if it is off handed comments. I have built posts/threads with people off the results of the rolls. It is like a prompt you sign up for.

(I cheated and read a little of your comment before I answered). Requiring people to RP out the results feels really off to me. It would curb the number of dice roll practices, but it is also commanding players to do something… There is still obviously consent “if you do the dice roll, you play it out” but I don’t know…. It feels weird.

5) Should characters be allowed to take on more challenges per season than the current limit allows, as long as they are willing? If yes, how should this affect exp limits?

I guess it depends on the challenge? Dice roll, sure. But if someone kept challenging me to an RP battle over and over and over again, even after I said ‘no’ that would be harassment and I don’t have time for that.

I think that is a slippery slope and would really create some OOC drama.

6) How would you define a "co-lead"? How should we classify them, for the purpose of leader-specific rules regarding battles/raids/territories, etc?

Hmmmm….. Good question. I have always had it between the players. If your character trusts the other character enough to be a co-lead then you trust the player enough to be a co-lead too. Usually they are made by plots or agreements.

I think you can have it written in the rules that the territories have the roles of the co-leads also written. If the co-lead can to everything except challenge for another territory’s occupants, have that written. If the co-lead is there in name-only, that can be written too.

7) Should co-leads/queens/consorts/companions count as high-stakes in battles where they are being challenged for, since the actual territory owner/boss/prime minister is protected from being challenged for, but co-leads and other elite ranks have no such protection? Or should they remain low-stakes, since they are only one "thing" being challenged for?

Sure! That could be fun!

8) Should co-leads be eligible for being challenged to a battle even if the territory owner has already been challenged for the season, or should they be protected from this as part of the privilege of being a co-lead?

Sure! Different horse, different player (I assume), different battle. I think at this point you could also allow the lead to come in as back-up if they so choose, and vice versa (if the lead got challenged, to co-lead could offer help, and if the co-lead got challenged the lead could offer help and it would still be one challenge for each of them).

9) Should co-leads be required to share posting duties with the territory owner in order to keep the territory active? If yes, how would you suggest this be enforced, and what what type of co-lead should be count toward this (i.e. just full co-lead, or should queens/consorts/figureheads be applicable as well)?

Yes.

I think it would be the role of the ‘2nd’ because they are typically less plot driven whereas most consorts are semi-romantic relationships. In my experience, though some things have changed!

10) Should co-leads count toward the player territory limit? I.e. if a player has two characters who are co-leads, should they not be allowed to claim a territory? If yes, how would you suggest this be enforced, and what type of co-lead should be count toward this (i.e. just full co-lead, or should consorts/figureheads be applicable as well)?

No……..? I am all about the ‘know yourself and what you can take on!’ if you can take on all the responsibilities of being a co-lead to three places and a lead lead to two…. Power to you.

Again, usually co-leads are chosen and plot-ish driven as opposed to battle, forced, or challenged for. Yeah, I guess someone could challenge for co-lead? Just like there are challenges for consort.

I don’t know if I said this in the discussions on battles and experience, or if it was asked, but: I think RP’d battles should be significantly more points than dice rolls. Which I feel weird saying because, honestly, it counters my point of intimidation of others’ writing. I like how dice rolls gives someone who is not as strong at writing a little bit of a leg up, AND people who take the time to write beautiful battle posts should be given credit for their time and skill to do so.

Possibly: A point system outside of battles directly that could give a battle advantage.

If someone is REALLY active, has great plots, writes a lot, writing is ‘okay’, but still fun to play with, but can’t win a battle to save their life vs. someone who doesn’t post save the min. To keep a territory in their name but can write a battle post that would have Shakespeare handing over his crown… Players should be rewarded for their investment...
