Bracebridge Ponds

Yesterday a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail was flying around our yard, so I was hoping to see more at the Bracebridge Ponds today...but no luck. There were a few nice birds though, including a Wilson's Phalarope on the beach in cell 2, and an American Bittern hiding in the grass. Recent arrivals included an Alder Flycatcher and a Black-billed Cuckoo by cell 4. Lots of Toads were trilling. An Indigo Bunting and a Mourning Warbler were singing at the end of Lagoon Lane. There were hundreds of minnows swimming close to shore in the northwest corner of cell 4 - no wonder there were so many Mergansers hanging around there earlier this spring.
