Use caution when the Wolf comes aknockin;

Ooc: will catch up on others. Bare with me. Insanely busy at work.

For the time being, life upon Atlantis had reached a sense of contented lull. Liland's departure from the islands had done much to calm the tension that built high in his bones. No longer did he find himself constantly searching the horizons for the invasive little stallion and instead found himself looking within to his own growing herd. The ending of the war, regardless how unsuccessful it had been, had seemed to calm the fires that burned in Warsaw. Though he had been gravely injuried, Rougaru had half expected the lord of Tinuvel to be knocking on his door the very next day planning a new strategy. So far that day had not come.

More and more it was Ironclad who seemed to be testing the waters at running the empire his warrior father had set before him. It did not bother Rougaru, he was quickly seeing the young stallion for the fine parentage he had; the determined spirit of his sire, and the collected mind of his damn. Though he had never spent much time in the company of the Inlet Queen, the reserve with which she always met him made him smile with knowing. It was a common reaction. One that Valka still met when she cared to lift her head at his passing. He hoped that in time she would begin to smolder the fires of hatred in her eyes... If anything they burned as bright still. Distrust. Caution. He could not say he did not enjoy the suspicion... The beast was quite content with it. Perhaps he should devote a bit more effort there, see if he could sway her his way.

However even Valkas angry eyes did not hinder his mind like the venom that glazed that of Himena.

Truthfully he had never expected to see her again. She had her throne in the lands beyond the mountains. She won her respect and her authority but he could not tie himself to her as she wished. True she was a loyal mare, despite the harshness of her tone she followed where ever it was he went. She stayed even when Davina left and took their children. She stayed when he gave up his herd to wander the world as a loner. No matter his attempt to squander her advances still she followed pushing him for more. She had it. He made sure he left it to her in the distant lands yet still she followed him. He did not miss the roundness of her barrel or the venom with which she ranted that he would never touch her again. He did not miss the tenderness with which she coddled her newborn as he passed on patrols. She wanted to infuriate him, to make him jealous... And yet despite the initial flare, he cannot find it in himself to spurn her in return. She was beautiful, exotic and loyal but it was never his heart she carried. Monster fed the wolf, her spirit and fire burned deep within his soul. Likewise Zjeena was in his heart, her stoic grace and fierce spirit the resolve he knew he could never live without. They were two halves of a whole, one that made him complete in a way rhat Himena could not. It was not fair of him to try, his relationship with Celestria had been proof enough of that.

Ears swivel as the muscular silver bay stallion gazed over his herd loosely gathered in the knee thick grasses that found purchase between the trees. All was at peace. At least for now. He was not about to wish for that to change.
