The young colt prods at his sister's face again, attempting to drag her back to consciousness through sheer force of will. The girl remained prone, her pale nostrils fluttering with shallow breaths. It is only when the sound of an approaching equine can be heard over his own panic that he looks up. A mare approaches, and while he does not know her, there is no mistaking the kindness in her. A tiny, mournful nicker escapes his pale nostrils and he paces towards her.

"Please! My sister needs help, miss!" The colt turns his gaze back to his sister, worry on his face. Their story would have to wait until his fear was assuaged and he was certain that Sibyl was not about to die. Trembling with his own fear, he pressed into the mare's side as she reached down to the prone filly, his eyes wide.

Sibyl stirred at the foreign presence, her pale eyes blinking slowly to restore her focus. A large figure loomed overhead, smelling strongly of mother, even if it wasn't her own. A soft nicker fluttered Sib's nostrils and she licked her lips, responding involuntarily to the milky scent of the mare.

Overjoyed at his sister's movement, Alastor surged forward to nudge her again. He'd been so terrified that she was about to die that he'd worked himself into an outright panic. "Sibby you scared me."

"We made it?" Sibyl's voice was hardly above a whisper as she laid on the ground, blinking away the moonlight. Awkwardly, with her brother's help, the girl rolled onto her chest.

"Yeah. You did it Sibby. We made it." Alastor's voice was giddy with relief. Sobering suddenly with thought, he turned to the mare again. "Can she have a drink?"

He knew for a fact that their mothers had not joined them. Sibyl had tried to tell them that they needed to leave, that something was going to happen, but they refused to listen. Alastor had come with to protect her, but neither of them had really thought ahead to how they would survive without parents.
