The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

He could still read the caution in Cerosi's approach but he kept his own posture relaxed and neutral, not wanting to give her any reason to hesitate. He knew it might take time for her to fully trust him so he was going to work on it at whatever pace she needed. When he asked how she was liking the Desert, the gray mare grinned and he took that as a good sign. She admitted she blew out her coat and was more comfortable now and he smiled. "That's good to hear. Wouldn't want you overheating." He said with a sly smirk, his eyes twinkling with good humor. She admitted the Desert was lovely and said Akello had showed her around. The mention of his eldest son made Cain smile, his gaze softening with affection and pride as he tilted his head to listen.

"Well, I'm sure courage will come with time." He didn't want her to feel pressured to do anything she wasn't ready for. Then she suddenly apologized for not coming to see him. His brows furrowed at first, puzzled, but as she increasinly grew uncomfortable, it occurred to him what she meant. His lips parted as realization hit and his eyes widened slightly. "Oh!" He shook his head as his ears flicked back. "No, don't worry about that. It was a tough time for me but you aren't obligated to take on any of that burden. I'm only sorry you had to see that." He dipped his head, embarassment clouding his features for a moment. He didn't see where she shoudl feel ashamed about anything. She was new to the Desert and shouldn't have had to see him bury three horses. That couldn't have been a good welcome to Salem for her or Nasa.

Her expression suddenly went more cheerful and the draft stallion let out a breath of relief. He didn't want to leave the conversation in that pit of darkness. She said that Akello showed her a peach tree and his ears pricked. He listened with rapt attention as she said she'd had them before but it was long ago. She said they held good memories and she was glad there was some here. His brown eyes softened as he smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. I hope that means more good memories are in store for you."
