When one runs with the wolves, one must howl with the pack;

Well life had managed to take an unexpected turn to say the least. Beowulf was floundering and to be perfectly honest, he felt a need for at least a bit of direction to say the least. Rayna was gone. Well, he assumed she was gone. Vaguely he recalled father mentioning something to Zjeena about his nemesis disappearing. At the time Beowulf had not thought much about the matter until Rayna’s scent also disappeared. In the end, the thought made sense, of course his bright eyed gray girl would follow after her father. From the stallion she described him to be, no doubt he had been torn apart when he discovered the twin foals deaths. With the ongoing war between himself and Rougaru and the current turn of events which left him without a herd, it would only seem reasonable that he would leave these lands. It was what he would do anyway.

A part of him was devastated. The loss of Rayna was much more heart wrenching than he even could have imagined. He had never put much thought into his affections for her, not until her absence began to act as a festering wound. Perhaps if she had come and told him of her intentions it would not have hit him so hard. However the not knowing… that was what hurt the most.

It was that not knowing that brought him out today. As with many other days in the past few months since her departure, he found himself wandering through the common grounds. For the most part, the gold and white boy is met by bent ears and accusing eyes. Most mares were wary of him. Though he was young in the eyes of others, he was a young boy coming into his prime. Already the fluff of youth that had once weighted his body now gave way to muscles made lean by the daily wanderings and swims from island to island. He was a threat to other stallions; a potential opponent or rival. Beowulf of course did not see things quite the same way as other mares and stallions across the island but that is not the point in the matter.

As it were, he found himself navigating around various unfamiliar faces, looking for nothing in particular and yet still searching all the same. A wafting breeze brought with him the strong scent of his sire which caused him to stumble to a halt and lift his bright emerald green gaze to the searching the nearby pastures until sights fall upon the chocolate brown form of his father. For a moment he thought he met his gaze, interest perked in the small mare that danced back and forth at his side, that is, until the sounds of mournful sobs catch his sensitive ears. Concern fills his eyes and all thoughts of catching up with his sire vanish as suddenly he finds himself traveling down the well worn pathways to the flat expanse of the beach below. At first he almost missed her, oddly as it seemed. For a moment he imagined her crumpled form to be a seal like the ones that littered the beaches of Atlantis on occasion when the weather was best fitting. It was only until the pale stallion appeared in a hurried rush and her head lifts does he realize the mistake. Silly boy.

Cautiously he makes his approach. He moves forward slowly so as not to upset the sobbing mare any further; or to provoke the pale stallion that now rested near her in support. Pale golden ears perk forward amid the damp platinum tendrils of his mane as nostrils flare to inhale the sharp unfamiliar scents that linger upon their skins. They were strangers but well, Beowulf could not merely pass up someone so clearly upset. Not if he could help to soothe in some way. ”A..Are you okay?” he inquires, his voice timid but concern visible in emerald eyes that blink down at them both in confusion.
