A few other considerations besides simply removing Douglas and Ikeda.
1 - They are replaced with guys who aren't up to the task of competing in the late group, therefore a doubly weaker field.
2 - Having a personal schedule of only 3 games for Carballo and Ronron - especially with no doubles - narrows the focus. So, hit the ground running, stay hot, and the perf is over very quickly.
3 - Carballo and Ronron seemed to be cresting last week, and were at peak level going in.
4 - 20-20 hindsight. LOL
But seriously, points 1 and 3 are objectively true. Point 2 is more opinion, but I have seen many cases over the years where a player on a hot streak does better with fewer daily games than with 6 , 7, or 8 per perf. Honestly, 'game count' is a factor I have believed worthy of consideration for many moons. Replies:
