Florida Dan, Collective Bargaining never works in any industry past its prime, fighting to survive economically. That was the mistake of the 80s strike. But on top of that, jai alai players from other nations are not here as permanent US citizens, but in most cases were here via an employment arrangement. Much like the HB programs with educated professions, the employee is NOT a free agent. That eliminates his bargaining power. Can he withstand years w/o work playing jai alai, not free to accept other jobs, or risk deportation?
The players in CBAs with the MLB, NFL, or NBA teams had a far better hand to play.
