Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Nobody had warned her about wolves like Blackthorne. They had warned her about wolves like demons, and wolves who ate their own kind, and all kinds of other terrible things...But wolves like Blackthorne? No, everybody had been conveniently silent on types like that, or maybe they simply didn't know about his kind. It was hard to imagine, after all, that he could exist at all and yet, when Faye was face to face with him, she found it even harder to believe that they hadn't known about him. How could they not have known? He was a different kind of darkness. He was meticulous, intentional, premeditated. As much as Faye wanted to resist and tear him apart, she could little more than sit in his shadow and feel herself becoming smaller and smaller.

She was quiet when he spoke, trying to keep her face hard despite the jagged nature of his words. Faye felt her teeth baring down on themselves, her lips a hard line of defiance. "Than mine is now, at least," she managed to growl beneath her breath. It was her last line of self-defense, in truth. If he didn't think she was somebody great now, then she'd have to become one -- and then, she'd tell his story, sure. She'd tell it so well that everybody knew exactly what and who he was, and how to take him down! He might have made her sit and bite her tongue, but she'd make sure he ended up in the dirt swallowing his. At least, that was the kindling she added to the fire inside herself. It kept her warm in the midst of his coldness.

Instinct was a powerful thing, though. Again, she wanted to resist and refuse, but when she felt his teeth grab onto her, she could not help but cry out. It was nothing like how her mother had scruffed her before! Blackthorne's grasp was harsh and ruthless. Faye could feel beads of blood form on her own skin, the flesh quickly becoming warm and cold simultaneously. It made her entire body shake for a second, her skin prickling and on fire as she howled in both rage and pain. Part of her call asked for help, and the other part screamed out with anger and hatred. Bastard, her voice said, a bastard who she needed to escape from!

Then, she forced herself to be silent. She bit down with a metallic clack of her teeth, and then she began to squirm. She twisted and pulled away, desperate to force herself out of his grip despite the pain it caused. Shamelessly, she swiped out with her paws and snapped at Blackthorne with her teeth, only seeking to cause him pain, as small as it might have been.

"Put me down! Put me down now, and get the hell out of here!" She yelled at him. He'd gotten her to cry, sure, but now she was going to really scream. "Go to Diveen, you bastard! I'll meet you there and I'll tear you up into tiny little pieces!" Instinct wanted her to run from him, but the Faye part of her wanted him to run away from her, dammit!
