Barn Owl

I have seen a barn owl in a pretty unlikely place two days in a row. The first sighting was Friday morning around 8 a.m.near Arrow Ridge Road In Port Sydney (technically Bracebridge). I flushed it from down near the river. It landed about 20 feet above me in a tree. I doubted my eyes, trying to figure out what owl it was when it turned to look right at me. There is no mistaking that face! I haven’t seen one in the wild (Niagara area) for 45 years. In any event, I didn’t post it until I saw it again yesterday while canoeing near the same spot as I had been the day before. It was being mobbed by blue jays, and flew fairly close to me. This spot is not accessible by car, but there is a good trail to the site from the Arrow Ridge barricade.
