...And those not-so-good disasters!
A rolled is made to decide whether a thread will experience a surprise, disaster or remain 'neutral.' If neutral, players may request an additional roll once per thread.
Roll 1: Disaster
Roll 2: Neutral
Roll 3: Surprise
If a disaster or surprise is rolled, the following rolls are made to decide the result. Depending on which board the disaster or surprise is occurring on, the type may vary slightly.
Disaster
Roll 1, 3 or 5: Minor Disaster
Roll 2 or 4: Moderate Disaster
Roll 6: Major Disaster
Minor Disasters vary based on which board they occur on, and will generally be relatively easy for a character to overcome: slowly rising water, risk of falling, incoming storm and so on.
Moderate Disasters will be slightly more difficult for a character or characters to get out of safely: water rising faster, character falling into water or debris, 'bridge' beginning to collapse and so on.
Major Disasters will take a lot of effort for a character to escape safely: flash flooding, bridge totally destroyed, predator attack and so on.
Surprise
Roll 1, 3 or 5: Minor Surprise
Roll 2 or 4: Moderate Surprise
Roll 6: Major Surprise
Minor Surprises are generally those that favour the character directly: easy prey, easy crossing with good weather and so on.
Moderate Surprises are those that favour a character, as above, but also provide a small OOC bonus, such as LC Points (a 'dice' will be rolled, ranging from 5 - 15)
Major Surprises favour the character but also provide a larger OOC reward; prizes worth up to 70 points will be rolled for. An 8-sided dice is rolled, with 1 - 8 reflecting the order of Prizes on the Points Keeper page.
