He could see so many emotions in her beautiful eyes but he couldn't catch a read on any one of them. She was silent for a time before speaking and when she did, his breath caught once more as he pricked his ears and put all his attention on her. She said she came back and she was choosing him, but it was his choice on whether she'd stay. His throat got dry at the very thought of her leaving for good but she forced down the lump, knowing he needed to speak or he could risk losing her forever. "I'd love nothing more than for you to stay." Her next words made him stiffen if only because he knew Shamwari wouldn't make that part easy. But he only paused a moment before offering her a soft smile and nodding. "I will do everything I can to make peace, though any suggestions are welcome." He added in a murmur, his eyes almost teasing as he watched for her reaction. She had to know her father wasn't the easiest to get along with, especially when one has wronged his daughters as Cain did in the past. Was there some big gesture Shamwari would understand that she knew about? Something that would cool his fire toward the Vanner?

Vihaan started to say more, but then stopped and Cain leaned in even more, aching to know what she wanted. He would fulfill anything for her. Finally, she continued, saying she knew he wanted to protect her and he didn't want her to get hurt. He found himself nodding along in agreement, but a lone ear flicked back. Had he given her the impression that he didn't want her to fight at all? She finished by saying she was a fighter and she didn't want him to deny who she was. He found himself chuckling softly before he forced himself to sober up, not wanting her to think he was laughing at the idea of her being a fighter, cause he knew firsthand she was indeed that. Shaking his head, he gave a soft snort, knowing he'd need to explain himself. "I'm sorry if I ever gave the impression that I didn't believe you a capable fighter, Vihaan. If that's what you think, then I blame myself. To be honest, I never would have agreed for you to go to Luthien during a war without an escort if I didn't know you could handle yourself.

"Of couse, I'd love the idea of you never getting a mark on your beautiful coat, but I know better. I will never forget the way we met, Vihaan. You were a force to be reckoned with and you are still a force." His gaze softened as he looked at her, opening admiring her. Did she forget how he always called her strong? He didn't just mean in temperament. She spoke again then, saying if he agreed to those terms, she would stay but that she'd never be completely happy if she didn't get to stand at his side as his equal. His heart skipped a beat and his breath caught in his throat. To be honest, she was the only one on his mind when Geneva first challenged for the spot and a part of him hoped then that Vihaan would return to him if only to take the position herself. Of course, her family came first and he understood why she stayed gone, but now to hear those words....he already knew he would agree.

He smiled again. "I've never thought of you as anything less." He let her keep speaking, letting her get it all out cause he had more to say, but she deserved to speak her mind first. She said she would never forget the vow she made on the Crossing and she would be honored if he allowed it. He nodded. Then she seemed to think about how she'd said it and doubt crossed her pretty face. Cain scowled to see it, listening as she asked forgiveness if she overstepped. With another snort, he shook his head. "I have alwasy loved the way you speak your mind, Vihaan. That is something I hope you never change and never apologize for it." He smirked a little before continuing. "I would be honored to have you at my side as Lead mare. There is only one thing I ask of you first." He took a deep breath before continuing, hoping it wouldn't offend her or make her think twice about staying cause he was sure his heart would rip from his chest to follow her if she left.

"You have been gone and the herd has grown and changed in your absence. I feel it only fair to the other mares if you reach out and start bonding with some of them before I give you the title. I'm not saying you don't deserve it and there's no one I'd like more, but it's always been important to me that the mares of the herd respect and look to their Lead mare for guidance and not look to her as a stranger. To me, that breeds bad relations in a herd. I'm not saying you need to call a herd meeting or seek every single member out by name. I'm only asking that you become not such a stranger to them. I know they'd love to know you, as I do." He offered a heartfelt smile at the end, hoping she could see the desire in his eyes even now as he looked at her. He would always want her, need her. Hopefully she saw that and it was enough to keep her here with him, here for the long haul.
