Can you hear me...can you hear me?

I Know the Words I Need to Say
I Let The Moment Slip Away

the world around him was silent. Everything was silent. Save for those few brief moments he swore he could hear with his eyes. Over the horizon he saw the storm rage over the Common island. Each flash of light he felt like he could hear sky rip apart, knowing after the light followed a shaking of the ground. From his experience, he knew the water surrounding the island was tumultuous, it almost claiming his life when he had first washed up on the islands. This storm seemed to be moving away from the islands themselves, the water at his feet oddly calm. He cast a glance at the jungle behind him. For reasons unknown to him, he stepped further into the water and decided this was the time for him to leave Paradise and see another island had to offer.

The water was indeed strangely calm from the first swim he had made. So calm he wondered if it was really the storm that mastered the waves. The swim was one he felt he could make without too much struggle. As he pulled himself out of the water, he considered not for the first time, what if his brother had washed up here? In the dark of the night, he shook himself free of the sea water and began his journey up the beach.

As the sun started to rise, his body had dried. Salt was caked on his painted blue and what body, giving him a silver brushed look. His body was clearly still young and attempting to fill out into what would be a strong draft build. Multi colored mane tufted awkward into his eyes and over his neck. Heavy hooves clomped loudly against the ground as he moved, the boy unaware of the sound he was making, only that he was on very solid ground. He saw a dark form on the higher beach. Ears perked forward curiously and he picked up his pace. As he approached his head lowered to gently touch the sleeping mare. She did not look strong, as if the storm he had watched had landed directly on her. Quietly, the boy nudged her a little harder with his nose, not knowing the words, but knowing how Monster had saved her when he had been found much in the same condition.
