Re(2): Is Radio Better in 2020 than it was in 1980?


Depends on who you ask. In the 80's, music was still pretty much "king", and Rush was still local or regional. Live warm-body local jocks were either on their way up--or down--and had a market life expectancy of 3-months to a year depending on their contract--and behavior. For owners and managers, the bottom-line still ruled. Stations not pulling their weight were either sold or used as a giant tax-dodge for other more profitable things. Announcers announced, sales people sold, managers had lunch, slept-with, and vacationed with their cronies--or got out of the business-, and company accountants hid their green visors and sharpened pencils in the basement of the corporate headquarters in some major city. You tell me have things really changed all that much?....
