The colt's gaze was always so intense when he looked at her, though she assumed he did the same with everyone he interacted with. Since he couldn't hear, he had to focus everything he had on what he did have, sight and smell. He was so much more observant of body language and even the little expressions of her face. That's why she had to tell herself to smile more around him, cause she didn't want him to think she ever was rejecting him or disapproving of him in any way or form. Sometimes, he seemed frustrated when she spoke so she only slowed down her words more, wanting him to understand more than anything. The need to communicate with him was so strong and she was determined to make it work. When she mentioned her mother, his eyes grew sad for a moment and she wondered if he was thinking of his own. Sadness clouded her own vision for a moment as she wondered what happened to her. Did she die trying to save him from whatever drove him into the water in the first place? She didn't know if the colt would ever tell her and she wasn't about to ask. She wouldn't make him relive those painful memories. When he nudged his head toward her son, Monster smirked a little, her eyes lighting up with happiness as he said she was a good mother. She nodded. "Thank you." His next words made her laugh. She was a bad monster? Her eyes twinkled with amusement as she gave a soft snort. "Yeah, I guess so." When she mentioned humor, he questioned it and she smiled again, tilting her head as she pricked her ears. "Like jokes, teasing. Like how I can't quite call you a little boy anymore. Pretty sure you're going to make me look like a pony in no time." She smirked to herself, her own eyes lighting up with pride to see how much he'd grown and filled out.
