Faolain listened to Cerauno piece together what happened. He seemed to have a clear mind and a solid grasp on reality, now that the evidence was in front of him, and Faolain admired this. I wonder how I can prevent this from happening again in the future… he mused, and Faolain thought it might help for him to bed down closer to others, but she didn’t think he would appreciate that suggestion very much and she grinned as the scene played out in her head of trying to tell him what to do. ”It will pass in time,” she pondered. After some thought, she added anyway, ”though it might help to sleep close to another, if you trust them. A friend can keep you grounded.”

When she asked about his injuries, the stallion appeared to give himself a once-over, as though he had forgotten about the fall. Faolain was no stranger to the effects of adrenaline, and was not surprised; her own aches had been minor up until now. It seemed the both of them were beginning to feel the damage their bodies had taken in the fall. Faolain did not see the branch still protruding from the red dun’s skin. If she had, her own hide might have crawled with discomfort, but she still would have offered to yank it out for him.

Cerauno asked how she was in turn, and Faolain offered him a tired smile. ”Sore,” she said. Her left hind leg was experiencing a sharper ache than the others, and she suspected she may have pulled a muscle. She had managed to avoid the unfortunate cuts Cerauno had been landed with, however; she would be bruised and scraped, but aside from a single slash across her shoulder, her skin was largely unbroken. She thought that particular wound was likely from landing on a sharp rock, and the cut stung mightily despite the soothing rain. She twisted her head to lick at it a few times before turning her attention back to Cerauno once again. ”I think we could both use some rest,” she said. The sun was beginning to rise, and the rain was easing off. If it weren’t for the exhaustion left by her ebbing adrenaline, she would have a hard time falling asleep at this hour, but she had a feeling it would be difficult to stay awake.
