PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Don't be a drag, just be a queen

In truth, Vanya had never envisioned herself as a Peak mare. There was far too little male appreciation present for her to feel truly comfortable, and far too many females for her to enjoy her time. Girls were too observant, too used to be manipulated to let sly comments go without retribution. They couldn't be swayed with the taunt of her sex or easy flirtation.

But freedom from Rougaru was perhaps enough of a motivation to make at least a temporary home here.

Drogon stared blankly at the dark mare that they had followed, not entirely certain what he should make of her. This was one of the very few times he had ever seen his mother interact with anyone other than Rougaru and this strangeness combined with their new surroundings made him uncomfortable. Thankfully, the Peak mare does not address him and he is left to stare with wide eyes in silence.

Nekharat moves closer and Vanya withdraws only slightly. The movement is subtle, but she is unable to stop herself. Apart from the fact that she had rescued them from Paradise, she had no reason to truly trust the Peak mare and now that the worst of the adrenaline was wearing off, she found herself more cautious. Both fluted ears spin forward as Nekharat speaks again, but almost immediately tip back at the truth in her words. Vanya had conceived late in the season, and her stomach, while rounded, was not as much of a hindrance as it was for Titania. Still, if Vanya knew anything of the speckled mare, she knew that the last place she wanted her child to be born was Paradise.

"Possibly," she concedes with a frown as she considers it. The followup question forces Vanya's lips into a purse. In truth, she doubted that Rougaru would harm Titania or her child. The brute was far too fond of spirited women and children to do anything that would injure them, but he was not above psychological torture. What worried, her, however, was that in saying that Rougaru wouldn't harm them, would she be condemning Titania to months of imprisonment while the Peak hemmed and hawed about what to do? If she lied now and claimed that the silver stallion would retaliate against the spotted girl and her unborn child, would that earn her faster rescue?

Thankfully, she is saved from such untruths by the indignant colt, who, having been roused from his sleep and carted across the ocean, was frustrated to hear that this new lady didn't trust Rougaru at all. His tiny ears tipped back and the dark shape of his muzzle was thrust into the air as he protested. "No. Rougaru will protect her, like he does us."

Vanya winces and is quick to duck down to Drogon's level with a soft chastisement and a request that he find them somewhere to sleep. After promising to join him shortly, she turned her attention back to Nekharat. "Not grave danger, no," she offers reluctantly, slowly raising her gaze to the desert mare again. "But it is the last place she'd want to have her child. And he will not let her go easily."

Jealousy wells in her chest again, but she brushes as much of it aside as she can. It didn't matter that Rougaru had abandoned her to capture the spotted mare. Regardless of how she had come to Paradise, the fact of the matter was that she did not want to be there. Huffing a small sigh, Vanya continued. "She is hoping that a stallion called Rille will rescue her, but I am loathe to trust it considering he has not come yet."

Vanya has little experience with the laws of this place, but she had seen with her own eyes the desperation with which the Fjord stallion had pestered Zjeena and assumed that such obsessive behavior was commonplace. The fact that she had seen nor heard nothing beyond a name of Titania's sun and stars made her suspicious that the only rescue her friend would find would be the one she made for herself.
