He was a lot things, but the tobiano draft stallion was definitely not blind. That's why he didn't miss Vihaan's golden figure taking off into the water. His heart still ached for her and the love lost, the love he never got to confess to her. A part of him had dove into that water with her and he would never get that part back. Yet he also didn't miss the younger form that lunged in not long after, the figure of his son, Akello. He yearned to call out after him, to make sure his own son had not forsaken him after all this time together as a unit, but deep down, he liked to think he knew Akello better than that. His son was all the things he was not when he first came here and he had hoped to teach his son the right way to be. Akello was pure and just. He was a great listener and a loyal confidante. He believed in others when they couldn't believe in themselves. Cain knew his son had not forsaken him, and he had a good idea where both the figure had gone.

That's why when he saw the young filly who had once graced the Desert as a juvenile in need of nourishment, he saw his chance to find out just what Akello was up to. If anyone could find his son and talk to him, it would be Jordan. Cain had never gotten to meet the filly personally but he had looked out for her when she was here nursing from Geneva, Primrose, or Vihaan. Her care was entrusted to him in those moments and he didn't let anything happen to her. He saw his son get close with the filly, escorting her and protecting her just as he did his sister Paisley. He was a great defender and Cain couldn't be more proud of him. When he saw the filly looking around, the stallion had to assume she was looking for Akello. Since he knew she wouldn't find him here, he gave out a gentle nicker himself and walked toward her. He stopped a few feet away, not wanting to crowd her. He was aware his simple size sometimes could make him seem intimidating or scary and he didn't want to spook the young girl.

"Hello, you're Jordan, right? I remember you as a child. I'm sure you know already but I'm Cain. Are you looking for Akello?" He pricked his ears and waited eagerly for her answer, already assuming he knew what it would be. Once she gave it, he offered a small smile. "I'm afraid he's no longer here. He went after his mother, Vihaan. I believe them both to be in the Prairie, on Luthien. I was actually thinking of visiting there myself if you'd like an escort." He offered. Now was as good a time as any to take a small break from the Desert to go find out why Vihaan took her leave of him. He needed that closure. He needed to know if she'd truly given up on him as Primrose did. He knew most wouldn't be happy to see him there, especially if Everglow still lived there, but Vihaan was worth all that and more.
