Stage 3 'tipping point' Posted on September 14, 2020 at 12:00:44 PM by Tiger
OK, statisticians, sharpen your pencils.
How big would the betting pool have to be to create the situation where a 5-pick winner was more than 50% likely to have to split the consolation payoff rather than collecting the whole jackpot? Let's call that the Jai 5 'tipping point'. Past this point, it becomes even less likely to have a single winner.
For example, if the daily pool was $100,000 (yeah, sure), it would be mighty unlikely that there could be just one winner. But, what pool sizes would result in likely 2-, 3-, 4- or more-winner situations. Note that this analysis relates to the size of the daily POOL (the jackpot SIZE is not relevant).
How far past the 'tipping point' would you have to get before it was nearly impossible to get a single winner? Could that ever happen?
If so, I'll be there on forceout day ... lol Replies:
