This week the former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall David Evans, was laid to rest at the Duntroon Chapel. AM Evans served with 38SQN during the mid to late 1940s, primarily in support of BCOF to and from Japan and the Berlin Airlift. He joined the RAAF in 1943 and graduated as a Sergeant pilot. AM Evans served as CO 2SQN in Vietnam earning a DSO for his leadership and tactics in precision bombing. He was also instrumental in ensuring the F111C was selected for the RAAF. AM Evans was 95 years old.
