I guess the news is out.
Covid took one of the nicest sweetest most talented men that I’ve ever come in contact with.
I first met Steve Phillips when he was a part of a group called Steve, Bob, and Rich. They played at the KY 102 summer Olympics jam in September 1983.
I brought their song “Big Fat Blonde” to St. Louis with me and I played it frequently on the afternoon shift at KSHE.
Steve Phillips was one of the back bones of the group the Rainmakers and finished his life doing what he loved for another iconic Kansas City band called The Elders.
My band opened up for the Rainmakers at Mississippi nights and I can tell you it was one of the greatest nights of my life.
I am afraid to ask how more fucked up this year can actually be.
