Looking at it Posted on October 1, 2020 at 11:37:36 AM by Benny b
Thank you for the heads up.
Watching wager gets their information from our Tote company. Not from me.
I have the Mutuals manager looking into it and he says that it should correct itself as they get information from Tote.
The information on our website is correct. But I’ll triple check...
And I’ll take this opportunity to give my opinion on watching wager.
It’s a great source for fans that cannot watch the games live.
Unfortunately, they are very unfair to us in the percentage that we get out of money bet through them.
We only get 4% of every dollar bet through watching wager. Other tracks give us 12%. Big difference.
I look at the handles and money bet every night and although it is true that most of the money bet to the handle comes through Watch and wager with the percentage being so low the net revenue to Dania is lower than smaller venues betting less.
That is why sometimes I get disappointed when people sitting in our audience are betting through watching wager. They’re giving us 4% when they do that rather than walking to the teller where we would get the full 25%.
It takes me back to 1992 when simulcasting was introduced and somebody in a position like mine at that time made a comment to me that I will never forget.
“You kids that are here playing in front of 4000 or 5000 people today will someday be playing with the empty auditorium. We have let our competition into the building and we have given our public a reason to not come and watch live. And for that, one day we will pay greatly”. Replies:
