Love and fury can coexist

Kiraz

The stranger’s voice is deep and comforting. Kiraz’s legs are unsteady as she stands close to him, grateful for the watchful eye he casts over her and the protective tone his voice takes on. Though she is nervous that he is unknown to her and standing so close, she knows she is lucky; he could have taken advantage of her vulnerable state, or left her for someone else to do so.

She casts her eyes about them, the movement of her head and the light from the sun causing a deep ache in her head at which she grimaces. She doesn’t notice the stranger approaching until her companion’s ear twitches toward him, and a voice speaks an oddly familiar word. She turns to peer at the slender male, momentarily distracted from her pain. ”Günaydın,” she responds, not yet understanding that she has switched tongues. Her mind is still foggy, and she turns to Tyr to ask ”Onu tanıyor musun?” before she realizes he has not yet spoken to her in this tongue, and that she is unsure whether or not he understands. ”Oh, sorry, I meant - do you know him?” she clarifies, gaze flickering back to the golden stallion. She recognizes him as one of her own people, and considering the lush vegetation lining the beach of this island, she is surprised to see him.

”You look out of place here,” she says with a very small smile, her voice quiet but friendly. She stays close to the bigger stallion, realizing too late that he is not happy at the interruption. Kiraz shies back, afraid of the possible confrontation. She is curious about the other Akhal Teke, and a burning list of questions runs through her mind that she longs to ask him, but she understands that now is not the time. She gives the patchwork stallion a reassuring nibble on the hide of his shoulder - which she has to stretch to reach - hoping to discourage him from running the other stallion off. She knows the rules of places like these, and recognizes the body language the stallion displays. She does not currently have the luxury of fighting for her own autonomy in her condition, but the huge draft seems kind enough to dissuade her from rebellion anyway. She remains in his shadow and waits to see what the two stallions will do.
