The bay stallion found himself being restless, especially this time of year. He kept close to Talien most of the time, eying any stallion who dared to look at her too long. He'd even managed to sneak off a few times and pick a fight just so he could blow off some steam from all the restless energy. He didn't think Talien ever knew about it. If she did, she didn't say anything, not even when he'd show back up with fresh marks. The bay wasn't so sure he liked being without a herd. It wasn't so much needing to have that structure and other mares around. It was having that extra protection for Talien from the elements and other factors. Chronos was getting more and more independent. It was all Dex could do to keep him where they could call for him. Forget about eye sight. The golden colt was a ghost when he wanted to be. Talien seemed content to stay on the crossing and graze, but Dex was getting more and more paranoid. He hated it.

It made him more snappy. He wasn't getting as much sleep, too afraid to take his eyes off Talien for more than a few minutes in case some stallion got it in his head to herd her away and have his way with her. Her scent was intoxicating and he knew it had to be just as bad for others. The idea of another stallion having authority over him and therefore, over Talien, was another obstacle though. He always worried if the lead stallion wanted to take Talien from him, make her have an heir for him or something. Dex knew he wouldn't be able to stand there and let it happen. He would do something drastic. He would rage out, and he wouldn't regret it. No one touched Talien. She was HIS. The stallion found himself pacing by a pool of water. He thought the waterfalls might sooth his troubled mind, but instead it only seemed to be driving him more insane. After a minute, he let out a harsh snort and slammed a front hoof into the water, splashing his reflection. His jaw clenched as he shook his head and half reared, slamming both front hooves into the water this time. Huh...that actually felt good.
