It was nearing the end of the second month they’ve been here. She still didn’t know this would be the place her family could call home and she had not seen miss Audie arrive. Maybe she got lost in the shuffle of her father searching for them. Maybe she had left them for another family. She has learned it was not uncommon for horses to leave herds, get stolen from herds, or just disappear. Dad had once told her stories about his lead mare Nampeyo and her half siblings. He said they had disappeared one night and their little herd became broken. But mommy kept him on his hooves and kept him moving. That is what he said. She thinks if Audie and her half-sister Kamala was gone too that her father may have an even harder time moving forward. Did that mean they would need to move homes again?

Everything was too much for the filly to think about so she indulges in the only thing she loves, aside from her family. The Ridge was plentiful in life and it was so different than the Cove had been. She still loved Tinuvel and its beautiful scenery. The mountains were always snow covered and the trees smelled amazing. Here it smelled mostly of rain because it has rained so much lately. Even through the rain, life was still vibrant here. The colors popped, the leaves were huge, and the trees grew very tall sometimes. There were so many colorful birds she could spend hours trying to find them all. The bugs were awesome too. She could stand on the highest hill and almost see all of the neighboring territories. That was pretty cool.

Even after two months, she was still entertained by the Ridge’s nature. A large beetle scurries by her so the red filly instantly chases it with her nose to the dirt. She laughs loudly as she attempts to catch it.
