i do what i want

He could feel her gaze always lingering, assessing, and he couldn't help but wonder what the pretty mare saw when she looked at him. Did she see his potential or his waste of such? He knew his parents were disappointed that he didn't want to lead his own herd at a young age. He just wanted to joke and play. His father often lectured him about responsibility and commitment, trying to chisel it into his mind. Maybe that's why he worked so hard to avoid them. He never saw it as a downfall to his own character, though. He wasn't a leader, but he wasn't really a follower, either. He liked to do his own thing and if it helped someone, then great. Of course, he could play well with others. Roheryn and he got along very well. He admired the other stallion and respected him. When Roheryn asked for help, he would gladly give it. But he wouldn't just follow anyone.

The gold splashed mare was very thoughtful, often lost in her own mind as she surveyed him. He was patient, though, and left her to her own thoughts, not wanting to ruin her reverie cause it allowed him to fully take her in as well. A part of him wanted to flirt shamelessly with her, let her know just how breathtaking she was. But the more logical part told him to step back and really listen to what she had to say. Cause what girl doesn't like a guy who truly cares about what they're thinking? The season could make him impulsive, but he didn't want to come off as a pervy creep. He was after the long term, after all, not just a one night stand. Therefore, he needed a different approach.

He noted the way she moved just so their whiskers would brush as they respectively pulled back and he felt his body tense a moment with yearning before he pushed the impulse back. She smelled delicious and her skin was like velvet, but she was off limits. He chose to distract himself with the prophecy she spoke of, instead, trying to decipher it. Something, it seems, she'd been trying to do for quite some time. She voiced her own questions after he did, saying that there would be a universal sign when she was in the right place and she would 'serve' the man of her prophecy. Just the word had him shifting a little as his mind strayed but he shook his head of such thoughts and focused back on the present and the mystery before him.

She said she gave up her birth name and he tilted his head curiously. "Do you even remember your birth name?" It seemed odd, being given a name then taking another because of something you were told, but he wasn't going to judge her. Instead, he wanted to indulge her on this adventure and take part in it himself, however he could be involved. If he had to watch her dance away into the sunset with some tool when she heard that earthly song, then so be it. At least, he would feel like he accomplished something.

He asked if she had more clues and unfortunately, she did not. But she did welcome his assistance so he grinned with renewed excitement and lifted his head with purpose. At her question of the badlands, he shook his head. "With the season upon us, I think my leader would be happier if I stayed away, to be honest. Do you have any direction you want to go first?" His hooves practically danced beneath him, eager to be on the move.
