Thor felt like he was always there? Israfel was partly glad that Silverwind had taken the lead, because he would have hated for Thor to see himself regarded with the concern that Israfel suddenly felt at the comment. He knew Thor had taken his mate's departure hard, even after so long, but there had been something about the way he'd said that...Well, it made Israfel worry for him. Israfel didn't want Thor to think that he and Samia had ever planned to leave Glorall or to stay away from Thor for as long as they did after returning. It had been a series of unfortunate events, but Israfel didn't want to raise the point. Not yet, at least. It was a conversation for another day.
In any case, Silverwind had a knack for dispatching any tension in the air. Israfel was just glad to hear Thor and Triton enjoying themselves, and their amusement was infectious despite his lingering concern. Silverwind was practically in heaven with all eyes on him, but also with all ears on him too. He loved having his questions taken seriously, and when Triton lowered to his level, he returned the favor and poked the top of his head with his nose. "Slimy things? Like bugs?" His face was alight with a smile all too alike to Samia's, wide-eyed and fascinated by the idea of bugs coming out of the sea. "...Or like a grub?" He pulled a face like Triton had, and hoped that they weren't sea grubs. Beetles, crickets...those kinds of things? Those were just fine! But things like the grubs he and Xenatu would find when they dug up the soil around the den? No way! He stuck his tongue out in distate just at the thought of them.
"Thor, I think..." But he had been cut off by the sudden arrival of Xenatu. While Silverwind was wholeheartedly surprised - and excited, of course - by her arrival, Israfel's surprise was muted into a broad grin. He would have recognized his own daughter from miles away, or even if she were covered in mud. Everything about her, and everything about Samia, had been imprinted into his mind. His tail moved in a wide arc of greeting and joy at seeing her, and he quickly nibbled the fur of her crown, an affectionate gesture but also one to ensure she looked nice and presentable after crashing through Glorall.
"As you can see, Samia's an expert in wrangling these little devils. I don't suppose growing up with you taught her a thing or two, did it?" Israfel teased Thor with a raised brow and a teasing grin, giving Samia a playful nip.
Meanwhile, Silverwind had spun around in a huff despite his tail waving. He glared at Xenatu, albeit playfully. "Uncle Triton was telling me about weird ocean food. You wanna' try it?" His glare quickly became mischief and he raised his brows, hoping Xenatu would take up the cause and start upping the pressure on the adults. Standing around talking was all fine and good, but getting to watch them hunt and try their strange, slimy shell foods? Silverwind practically danced on the spot at the thought of it, so much so that Israfel watched him with a bewildered expression.
"Samia, dear. I was just extending an invite to Thor and Triton to come stay with us, but now that you're here...Why don't we plan for a few days?" He locked eyes with Samia, hoping that even in their silence, she'd understand the importance of that kind of offer. |
