Birch's hand tightened on her weapon as the wolves - seven of them - parted from the brush and entered the clearing. Her lips firmed, mind racing as she tried to consider each possibility. A fight now would be... difficult, to say the least. She wasn't completely confident that even with her magic and her fyren form at her disposal she'd come out on top; she might've given it a try anyways, if it weren't for Jacopo. She couldn't fight this many and keep an eye on him at the same time, and she'd just found him again. There was no way she was letting him go without one helluva fight this time.

She said nothing, her body full of tense readiness, but she did listen closely to the conversation - the parts she could make out, at least, which included Jacopo's side only. Still, it was plenty to get the gist.

"Grab the food bag," she murmured out of the side of her mouth, voice low and calm. "Slow and steady."

She kept a close eye on the wolves, ready to act in an instant if they dared lunge for him. They held steady, watching with keen, intelligent eyes, as he grabbed the bag and returned to Birch's side. She rummaged through it, finding a small amount of preserved meat and some cheese. She threw it into the space between them and the wolves.

"That's all we have that'd be of any interest to them," she said, casting Jacopo a look that asked him to translate. "We're not worth the fight. Even if they managed to take us down, there will be casualties." She bared her teeth slightly. "I'll make sure of it."

"But," she continued. "If we find game, they're welcome to a portion. Free food, all they have to do is not kill us."
