Dog racing in Florida down to final days Posted on December 28, 2020 at 08:54:48 AM by Bada-Bing
There is only a couple of tracks left in Florida that will race up until Thursday midnight then dog racing is gone .....forever. There are still a few states left with tracks but within a few years those will probably close down as well. It is quite possible that the only thing left for parimutuel wagering in Florida within the next few years is thoroughbred horse racing. I think everyone would agree that if casinos didn’t need the jai alai to satisfy permits it would have been gone several years ago. Let us not forget that jai alai at all of these casinos is the LOSS leader. On a side note... now Florida is left with all of these monstrosities to demolish in regards to the empty dog tracks. I’m sure many will sit for decades before anything is done. St Johns in Jacksonville hasn’t been racing for over 20 years ( except for a brief stint with parimutuel and poker) but its finally getting demolished next year. Replies:
