Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe holiday. Thankfully, 2021 is finally here and with any luck the rapid rollout of the vaccine will continue and we can start putting this pandemic behind us.

By now most of you have seen the slides Admiral Natter reviewed at the CoCP meeting regarding our new Alumni Association and Foundation Center. For those that haven’t the slide deck is available here.

We are so excited about this project and can’t wait for the day when we are officially open for business, most likely the summer of 2022. The new Center will be something special we all can be proud of, and use, with many meeting and entertainment spaces for all grads to enjoy. If you have ever been to West Point or Air Force, you know what I mean. They both have wonderful alumni facilities and now, finally, we will too. Only ours will be better!

The Alumni Association and Foundation is counting heavily on classes to get us over the fundraising finish line for this project. We need approximately $7 million more. I am reaching out to all Class Presidents with the hope that each of our great classes will consider supporting this project at the $100,000 level, the $250,000 level, or even higher as ’67, ’78 and ’55 have. Click here to learn more.

A few other ambitious classes have already begun fundraising for this effort including ’65, ’66, ’74 and ’84. The Class of ’65, for example, asked each of their annual President’s Circle donors to consider making their usual $2,500 annual gift to the Alumni Center Project. With a commitment to do this for five years, each donor’s total gift of $12,500 qualifies them for individual PLANKOWNER STATUS and lifelong individual recognition in the Center, but it also counts toward their class project goal. The math is easy. Just 8 people from a class need to become PLANKOWNERS and the class as a whole reaches the $100,000 recognition level. In ‘65’s case, they easily will make the $250,000 level using this approach. For more information on how individual PLANKOWNER status fits in with class projects, click here.

Our minimum goal is to get 20 classes to commit to the $250,000 level and 25 classes to commit to the $100,000 level. We hope to secure these commitments from you by 30 June 2021. (Commitments only, we have five years to actually receive the funds.) We will take pledges up to five years, so you’ll have until 31 December 2026 to get the donations in. Given this long runway, we are confident we can bust through this modest $7 million class support goal.

I realize a few classes just finished a project or are in the middle of a project. Please give me a call if you would like to explore some creative ways to skin this cat.

Message to share with your classmates:

There has never been an easier way for individuals and classes to earn lifelong recognition. If you are a current President’s Circle level donor, you can maintain your PC status AND while doing so help your class get recognition AND get your own individual recognition at our new Alumni Association and Foundation Center. If you are not a current PC donor, there is no better time than the present to jump aboard the PC train. OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY. BECOME A PLANKOWNER

I look forward to working with each class in support of our great new Center. Drop me a line with any questions. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2021!

GO NAVY!

Respectfully,
