She stood by the creek, her body lightly trembling as she tried to nap. It was harder to do when she had constant nipping at her flesh, a pestering colt who wouldn't take no for an answer when she told him she would take him somewhere to play soon. The mare was still sore and exhausted from her own birthing process and knew it might take days yet before she started to feel like herself again. Still, she tried to keep an eye on the rest of the herd, knowing their own births might be just as traumatic. The painted mare was especially watchful of the fleabitten grey mare she'd spoke to. After knowing what happened to her, Monster thought she might need someone with her during and even if she had to drag herself, she was determined to be there for support.

She didn't even know the mare's name but felt protective over her. She wasn't even sure the mare knew her own name, to be honest. She didn't want to assume anything, but there was just something so fragile and lost about the taller mare. There was a moment when her two toned gaze swept over the herd that she caught a hint of discomfort in the grey mare's posture. It was only from a distance, but something was off. Monster made her way closer to the mare's clearing, not wanting to crowd her but not wanting her to feel alone, either. She could hear the mare pleading as she got closer and her brows furrowed with concern. She stood by silently until all grew quiet then she peered her head around to see the new foal squirming on the ground. Her gaze swept to the mare, urging her to go to her son or daughter, to clean them and bond. But instead, the mare just stared.

Monster's ears flicked to her scalp as she looked between them with growing urgency. When the mare got up and looked more closely, hope flared to life in Monster's eyes, but as she started to back away, the smaller mare gave a snort and stepped forward. "You are strong. You can do this." She stopped at the mare's side, giving her a reassuring look. "You know how I know? Because when I offered you the easy way out, you turned it down. You took the hard path, knowing it would lead to this. You are strong enough." She searched the mare's expression, hoping she would take the strength and courage she needed to do what needed to be done, to go to her child. Monster would be here for her. Meanwhile, Alpha clung to her legs, his mouth chewing in question as he looked from the new mare to the bundle on the ground.
