i do what i want

It was odd, seeing the filly act like the mirror image of the mare. Every time Vanya batted her lashes, he would see the filly at her side do the same. It's like she was already in training. Something about the painted mare intrigued him. She held a power about her that was all her own. She drew his attention again and again without any effort. And it seemed the dark stallion that smelled of Luthien was under the same spell now. As Kamekaze arrived, he could see her eating up the attention the other stallion was doling out. He acted the true gentleman and if he had all the manners himself, he should probably just bow out and leave them to it. But Kamekaze could have a selfish nature at times and he didn't want to give up without a fight.

She seemed pleased enough to see him, as well. Her face only lit up more, making her all the more pretty in his eyes. She probably loved all the attention she was getting, but Kamekaze didn't mind playing her game. If she wanted a competition for her affections, he'd compete. His gaze followed the mare's movements as she preened and brushed at her daughter's mane, both stretching out like cats in the afternoon sun. She gave the daughter's name as Vivienne. It seemed she still remembered his name, too. He dipped his head right back in greeting, his eyes gleaming with mischief. For a moment, she was quiet, but her face wasn't quiet. She was plotting.

But just as surely as he thought she'd spin a tail of victory and washing her hooves of peasants, the mare surprised him by ducking her head and tucking her tail. It was unbecoming, something unsettling to see on her. His brow instantly furrowed in concern and his own ears flicked back. She didn't say anything, at least not at first. Her gaze lifted to her daughter with mixed emotions and Kamekaze actually cursed himself. Something must have been done to her. Something cut her spirit and he didn't like that at all. She finally did speak though, saying the Peak rescued her. So the stallion wasn't nice to her. Anger coiled like a snake in the buckskin's stomach and his jaw clenched. But as if she was trying to push back the dark thoughts, Vanya started asking about him and he perked up, wanting to get her back to her happy self.

He nodded. "Yes, I'm still in the Badlands, Vizier now. Second in Command." He lifted his head a little, showing his pride in himself. He could have his own mares now. He had to take on some responsibility, but it wasn't like he hadn't already been hanging out around the Badlands, patrolling more or less. When she turned to the other stallion, asking about him, Kamekaze had to swallow the lump of jealousy in his throat. Of course, she had to share her attention, or she'd lose the game of attention she loved playing. But the game felt changed by the information she'd just hinted at. That she was force bred. That she wasn't treated properly. He hated the idea of anyone touching her like that.

The other stallion, Balor, said he had a herd in the Prairie. Kamekaze knew he would have advantage by being a lead stallion. If she wanted power, she would go with him, but Kamekaze wasn't just going to roll over. The stallion was even playful, saying she should come see it sometime. He had to hand it to the guy, he had game. He thought about adding more to draw her attention back, but he wanted to give her some more of that power she seemed to like. Let her steer the conversation and see what happened, at least for now.
