The white mare seemed lost in thought, like she was miles away from here. Medusa almost envied that. There was so much going on in the Inlet, what with Ironclad running off after Kvothe and his own sister birthing then promptly killing her own foal. It was a mess and she had no idea how she was going to fix everything. She wanted the Inlet to be united, for everyone to be on the same page. How could she do that when Kvothe was afraid to have her own foal in her home herd without fear of what Ironclad would do? She'd promised the mare she would stand by her and protect her and the child but she could only guess it wasn't enough for the gentle red mare with how fast she went running back to the Crossing. The painted mare could only guess she went looking for that stallion again, the one who raped her in the first place.

Nothing was ideal at the moment. Maybe it would be better to be miles away from here right now. But her attention refocused on the mare when she turned to her, her lips parting but no sound came out. Medusa pricked her ears and tilted her head, wondering if the mare couldn't speak physically or if she was just unsure how to answer. But her attention was turned again when she heard hoof beats and saw a black mare approaching as well. The mare smelled of Atlantis but not her former home in Paradise. Medusa never met her before, but that didn't mean today couldn't be that day. She gave a friendly smile to the mare and dipped her head in greeting. She must be another lead mare. Medusa wasn't here to force anything so she didn't mind there being another friendly face. It seemed like the white mare could use some of those.

When the white mare extended her muzzle, Medusa smiled and reached out as well, exchanging breaths with her before pulling back to let her do the same to the black mare. The darker mare asked if she was lost before offering to escort her and the Inlet Queen felt better about her, knowing she wasn't here to force anything either. Those encounters were usually few and far between on the Crossing. The white mare spoke then, saying she didn't know this place and gave her name as Snegurochka. It was definitely a mouthful. She mentioned a path and Medusa tilted her head again in question. She must not be talking about a literal path. At least, she'd never see one here before.

She offered a gentle smile again before speaking. "A pleasure to meet you, Snegurochka...and please, forgive me if I completely butchered your name." Her lips curled and her eyes twinkled before she glanced again at the black mare and dipped her head. "Nice to meet you, as well. You are from Atlantis. That's where I was born." She didn't want to see rude, so she wanted to greet the other lead mare, as well. Then she turned back to the white mare. "This particular place is called the Common. It's usually where horses end up that are looking for a herd to join. This island is called the Crossing. It houses the social areas for horses to gather along with the two herds that couldn't be more opposite, the Lagoon for bachelor stallions, and the Peak for mares who would rather live without stallions. The other islands around this one have the other herds." She looked around before focusing once more on Snegurochka.

"You mentioned a path. Do you mean your path?"
