Bacardi had been quiet since his move to the Bay. Enjoying the company he had taken with him, and now a child he had never expected to have. It made him feel peaceful, happy, but also stagnant. Was he to be this happy, when he had never been so before? But even as blissful as his life was, there was still lingering memories of the one face he could never forget. But sometime since the birth of Tavaris, as he spent time with Soraya and watched his son grow, that pain was fading. But was it fair for him to only share his peace with three?


Easing off into the cold sea water felt foreign and even wrong. But Bacardi pressed on, certain that this was what he was supposed to do. What every stallion was supposed to do, rather than hide under the skirt of his Leader. Or stay firmly attached to Soraya’s side. She would surely want a break from him. But Bacardi wanted nothing more than to return to her warmth and thought about it all the way to the Crossing.


As he arrives into the Common ground, water still streamed from his painted skin and he barely took the time to shake it off. Maybe he should just turn back, go back home? Just as Bacardi was going to turn around, a flash of color caught his attention. Golden lupine eyes spy a lone bay mare as she makes her way through such dangerous ground. Although he thought about leaving her to her fate, Bacardi finds himself walking over before he can fully decide. Only as he reaches the desert bred mare does he give a low nicker in greeting.


“My name is Bacardi.” he offered like an olive branch, including a smile.
