Oksana’s eyes flicker open as a sound breaks the quiet. She turns her head to see a stallion approaching her. His body language is soft and inoffensive, but this does little to affect the perturbing feeling of unfamiliarity that washes over her at the sight of him.
She knows that there are many different kinds of horses, she has even seen a few of them, but this is far removed from the handful of shades and inches that separate the herd members of her homeland. This stranger is tall, even from her perspective as one of the smaller of her kind; and his coat is an unusual, pale colour splashed irregularly with white. His appearance is jarring for her to take in, and she wonders if everyone here is so large and unusual-looking.
Oksana straightens up and watches his approach with silent suspicion. He stops shortly in front of her, his lips curling into a playful smile, and begins to speak. His words, at least, reveal little threat, tawdry as they may be.
She pushes a huff of air through her nostrils, unsmiling, but mildly amused by his boldness nonetheless. She tosses a thick, silver forelock out of her face and focuses her dark gaze on this Solomon.
“You’re right,” she replies, her voice low and slightly husky. “Yet it sounds to me like you tried one anyway.”
She eyes him, her expression discreetly curious as she waits to judge his reaction.
“Oksana. I do not know the Cove, if that is also meant to be impressive.”
