PROMISE LIVES WITHIN YOU

DARKNESS HAS COME

MAY IT BE AN EVENING STAR SHINES DOWN UPON YOU.
MAY IT BE WHEN DARKNESS FALLS YOUR HEART WILL BE TRUE.
YOU WALK A LONELY ROAD.
OH, HOW YOU ARE FROM HOME.
BELIEVE AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR WAY.
PROMISE LIVES WITHIN YOU NOW.

What brings him out today was not the same reason he has been searching all over the islands. He was done looking for someone who didn’t want to be found. Didn’t want to be found by him. Instead, he would find new inspiration on the crossing. Maybe it will come in the form as a new mare, a new friend, or an old acquaintance. Who knows where this new path would lead. Roheryn pulls himself out of the ocean and paces the beach until he was somewhat dry. He fights hard to keep his mind off of the troubles at home. He doesn’t even wish to think of the growing feelings he had for Nova. They had grown terribly stronger since their last conversation, but something wouldn’t allow him to completely go all in. What was holding him back?

An hour or so passed and he had yet to see anyone come close to someone he knew. There were horses in the distance, but none that he recognized. No friendly faces. A sigh leaves his pale lips as his slowly begins to step out in the open. Roheryn passes by groups of talking equine, but finds no one interesting enough to stop. He begins to think coming out here was a mistake until he notices something odd. He spots Ruger’s movement through the trees on the outskirt of the commons. He was coming upon an older male paint who seemed to be resting. For a moment he remembers his mother talking about his father having a figure similar to the older stallion’s. She used to say it was where he got it from. Roheryn shakes the thought from his mind as he picks up a trot towards them.

”I have never seen you show such interest in a stallion before Ruger,” he comments once he was within earshot. Roheryn closes the rest of the distance on the stallions. ”It is good to see you well.” He gives Ruger a smile and a nod of his skull. His gaze then turns to the other male. ”I can assure you Ruger here is good company.” He wasn’t sure what was happening here exactly, but he would help Ruger if he could. His uncle had never given him a reason not to be trusted. Besides Shamwari’s trust in him had spoken volumes. ”My name is Roheryn de Mikhail. What brings you to the commons? You don’t seem like you want to join the crowds out there.” It was odd he was standing in the shadows if he wanted to be noticed or find a home. Maybe he just wasn’t sure.
