Show them the joy and the pain; (Torsten)

Tuari could not explain what brought her back to the main island. Perhaps it was the flickering flame of hope that her time with Fearghas had breathed life into. Maybe it was something different altogether. Regardless of the reason, the pale mare of silver cream once more found herself meandering through the knee high grasses just beginning to turn yellow. Fall was not far away, already the burning hunger lurked on the edge of her reason like a tiger prowling in the night. Tuari had done well to avoid all stallions the past season and was determined to continue the trend considering the outcome of her last pregnancy. For how long? How long could she deny the lusts of the flesh or the longing for motherhood? Though it has only been a few weeks since she had left Torvi in the care of her sire, she already missed the constant companionship of the bright girl. Though Tuari herself always struggled with the conception of the girl, it never seemed to affect her. Torvi viewed the world with the youthful innocence that had long been robbed from her own life. Gallantly she tore through the unknown with a bright smile and glittering eyes. Torvi feared nothing because she saw nothing to fear. If only Tuari had the same blessing.
Pale eyes blink against the bright sunlight that glittered through the treetops above. Paper thin nostrils flare as the delicately boned woman lets her searching gaze roam over the unfamiliar figures that grazed in languid peace. She felt like the graceful deer that shied meekly at her passing. Always she searched for Torsten in the shadows, the haunter of her dreams. So far, she had not seen hide nor hair of him since his appearance in the meadow last week. Likely for her, Fearghas had appeared in the Lagoon and she had been able to avoid what no doubt would have proven to be months of endless promises and hunger eyes. She had told him the truth, imagined that he would feel the same disgust and horror just as she herself had when learning the truth of their shared bloodline. She imagined that he would have left her to raise Torvi on her own, which would have suited her just fine. However, Torsten proved to be anything but predictable. The proud stallion seemed unphased by their bloodline and instead saw it as a sign of strength. He continued to dote upon her with unabashed affections even when she tried to avoid him. Always he sought her out, at least until Levitace claimed her as his own. Had disappeared then, retreating to the Lagoon with the rest of the bachelor stallions.. For a time he had lost her, for a time she had been free, even if it was still buried deep in the veins of Tinuvel. But she was not free until the moment her hooves found purchase far from the northern island shores.

A soft sigh escapes her lips as cautiously she slips from the shadows of the trees and into the bright sunlight. Her time in the Savanna with Fearghas had renewed her hope in life. She had enjoyed spending time with the dappled stallion of chocolate and cream. He was polite and gentle and had given her freedom where others had always denied it. He invited her to stay, to make her home in the Savanna with him, but despite her best attempt, Tuari did not think she could ever call the open Savanna her home. She was used to the tall trees of Tinuvel, the low reaching branches and sharp scented pines and cedar trees. She had always found comfort in the protective presence of such monolithic branches. The few sparse trees of the Savanna would never be able to make her happy. She had vowed to return to visit, to take pleasure in the lyrical voiced stallion’s companionship again before making her way back to the ocean in search of her forever home.

Perhaps here. Perhaps now. Surely the defeat and loss would cause Torsten to retreat himself into the Lagoon. Surely she would find her home long before he ever found her again. Perhaps he even imagined her still in the Savanna with Fearghas. Or so she hoped anyway. It was the only reason she found herself returning here today. Surely he would expect her to stay far from here for a while.
