We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Re(1): One for Geoff

Hi John
Snugville Street Bakery was during our first posting to NI in early 1970 shortly after I was posted to 2Para. We spent all of our first tour based there taking in the " Clonard " area and the so called Peace Line along Bombay Street. We were relieved by 1RRF and as I say Dave Derbyshire took over our accommodation at Snugville Street Bakery. Our adjoining regiment on the Falls Road were the Green Howards? who were nicknamed The Falling Plate Regiment as they took a large number of casualties. Our second tour was from the Howard Street Mill during internment...(Operation Demetrius)...August 1971, and our third in Londonderry and the County Killing Zone of Armagh 😳. I left the Army in July 1973 at the end of my engagement.

PS...not sure about the Guards
Independent Parachute Squadron. I always knew them as the Guards Independent Parachute Platoon who were based at Pirbright from poor memory? 7RHA the Independent Parachute RA were based at the barracks at the end of Queens Avenue Aldershot up in North Camp. At that time they formed part of 16 Para Brigade...Farrah Hockley's little baby
