the strange way of the world

It was unusual for him to leave home. Yes, home. He was finally started calling the Ridge home after living there for a year, perhaps even longer. Truthfully, the place wasn’t that bad and Osceola seems to be happier there. The Cove had just been much too crowded with Solomon’s growing family quickly outnumbering them. He could populate all of Tinuvel with his charm. Requiem half worried Osceola would fall for his charms. He worried Audie would too. The other part of him just hating all the chatter and the noise. He sometimes missed the quiet of the Bay when he owned it. Tinuvel was a loud, busy, place now. All of the island’s population seems up so avoiding everyone was getting increasingly difficult.

He swims from Atlantis to the commons in an odd chance he might run into someone he once knew. Honestly, he would love to see his children the most. Tauri, Prairie, Kamala, Rephaim, and Anevay. He missed them all so much. His time with all of them had been cut too short. Only Matoaka got to really grow up with her father where the others missed out. He should have told Tauri sooner who he was and just dealt with his father’s wrath. Cute little Prairie was probably grown by now. He hopes her and Jetta were well. Kamala would be Matoaka’s age which is much too grown for his liking. He never truly knew if Nampeyo, Rephaim, and Anevay were alive. Had they escaped the wolves? At first, he suffered their loss like they had died, but in reality, he did not know. Some where along the way hope began to rise.

Just like he knew Audie and Kamala were still out there somewhere. Movement caught his attention. A young mare was running around and pestering the older mare she was with. Requiem halts with wide eyes staring at the pair. “Audie?” He whispers her name into the wind. He didn’t believe it at first, but at they kept moving around he knew they were real. “Audie!” Requiem screams as his legs pick up a gallop towards them. The ghost stallion eliminates the distance between them. Words began spitting out of his mouth as soon as he was close enough. His pace slows, turning into a walk, until he stops in front on them. “I thought you were gone! I told Solomon I was leaving the Cove because it was getting too crowded, but then Osceola ran off and I ran after her. We ended up in the Ridge where we have been staying ever since…I thought you were gone.” His head hung in defeat.

Has she been waiting for his return in the Cove this whole time?
