The Vanner stallion had decided that this conversation was best continued in private, when it was just two of them. He had been polite enough to allow Solomon's presence as long as he did. He could have gone caveman on him and tried to drive him away when he first arrived, but that wouldn't have done anyone any favors. Chelle would have judged him a monster and Solomon would have set him as an enemy. Instead, Cain played the long game by indulging the other stallion, allowing him to get to know the pretty amber mare just as he did, thinking they could continue to be gentleman and let her make the decision.

But Chelle was turning out to be quite different. In fact, she scared Cain a little. Her darker yearnings could break off pieces of that gentle exterior he'd worked so hard on over the years. She wanted someone to be forceful. She wanted someone to make her feel like they needed her, like she was worthy. And there was no doubt that she was, but he had to go against the nature he'd spent so long cultivating to give her what she wanted, and it was a constant inner struggle. Maybe it would have been the easy way to let Solomon take her, but Cain was never good at losing. He was competitive till the end, and he yearned to get to know Chelle better, to get her to look at him anywhere close to the tantalizing looks she was stealing to the taller Cove stallion.

She didn't turn him down, but apparently didn't want to make the decision for them. She wanted them to make it for her. Cain reacted in the only way he knew how. If he turned on Solomon, it would be blind-siding the other stallion and he didn't want to do that. But if he claimed her here, then he could take her to the Desert and see if she wanted to be there. He could get that alone time with her to really get to know her, and if she didn't want to be there, then he would take her wherever she chose or allow her to leave on her own, easy as that. Of course, he wasn't planning on Solomon's instant temper tantrum, either. In a way, the look in his eyes reminded the Desert stallion a lot of Rougaru in those moments. It was the look of a guy used to always getting his way. Fine, he was used to dealing with enormous egos.

At least, they'd managed to draw out the conversation long enough for the pretty mare to gain her confidence. She blossomed like a rose under their gentle encouragement and only then, did they get to see the dark promises those feminine eyes could bring to life. If they had showed this side from the beginning, she probably would have run for the hills. Cain was glad they'd made it to this point, where he saw no fear in her eyes even when he reached out to nip her. Instead, she looked amused for a moment, and even joyful, glad to be free of the decision. But, of course, the Cove's ruler had to be a sore loser. He watched with narrowed eyes as Solomon wrapped himself around the mare like a cat claiming its owner. His nostrils flared a little in distaste at the male's lack of respect for a rightful claim. Maybe it wasn't his usual style; in fact, Cain couldn't remember the last time he'd claimed a mare with a bite.

But instead of leaving it up to her, as it would have ultimately been if he'd allowed her to leave, the stallion touched her like she was his own already and dared to scold Cain like he had truly wronged her and him. Cain could only smirk back in response at first, his brown eyes dancing with amusement as he met the stallion's gaze. "She didn't say no to either of us, Solomon. She asked us to make a move and that's what I did. Don't be mad because I moved first. You would have done the same." And he knew he was right. Solomon wasn't known for giving mares the choice in coming with him. He glanced back at Chelle, reading her reaction before he continued. "I claimed her for now, but I'm not forcing her anywhere. I'm not the one pressed against her now without her permission, tasting her like she's already mine. Look in the mirror before you speak, Solomon."

He shook his head, chuckling at the male's thin accusations. "You're grasping at straws, now. That's desperate, even for you. No one is a prisoner in my herd. Can you say the same?" He quirked a brow expectantly. "No one is abused in my home, either. No one is forced to breed. I wonder if I would find the same if I were to investigate the Cove." His eyes watched the stallion closely. He'd heard rumors and wanted to see if they had any bite. Of course, Solomon could always be good at training his face not to show emotion. That would only further confirm the rumors, though.

As the stallion then pushed the options, he let out another laugh. "If she wanted to leave with you, she would have. She asked us to make a move, or did I read that wrong?" His gaze fell on Chelle patiently then, not wanting her to feel like a prize being quabbled over. She was very much still involved in this. Cain just wanted to make his thoughts just as clear as the obnoxious stallion before him. He waited for her answer before turning back to Solomon. "I see two options, as well, though you left out the most logical. First, you can allow her to come to the Desert and see if she can see it as her home. If not, I'll gladly escort her to you or wherever she wants to go, or she can leave on her own. You would never be my prisoner." He re-iterated the last part while meeting the mare's gaze, wanting her to know he meant that whole-heartedly.

Then he turned back to the other stallion. "If you don't trust me to do that, you can come get her yourself after a few day's time. Or, you can be the caveman you're acting like right now and we can shed blood over her in a high stakes battle. I don't wish to hurt you, but I'm not stepping down either. If we fight, though, the decision is final. If I win, you won't come back for her, and I'll honor the same." His gaze went back to Chelle. "I can promise you safety in the Desert, though your happiness is up to you. Only you can decide that. As for wanting you, I made the first move by approaching you, the second by staying to talk to you when another arrived, and the third by laying a claim bite on you. You said deeds speak louder, right?" He smiled for her, his eyes softening for a moment. "And the fourth will be fighting for you if that's what he insists on, because you are wanted, Chelle. You are worth the battle. You are worth the blood. You are worth the pain."

He waited to make sure she took that all in before he turned his gaze back on Solomon, his eyes hardening once more. "Ball's in your court now, Tinuvel King. You can take a chance and let her see everything on offer without your constant shadow for a little while, or you can take the risk of losing her completely in battle. What will it be?" He raised his head and waited for the response.
