Better to die with honor

Askold
chestnut stallion - three years - mutt - 14.3hh - björn x ysabel - undecided home

He never left her alone like her own personal bodyguard. He wasn’t sure how else to handle the situation especially since his need for physical touch and communication was so minimal. Only knowing she was safe was enough. He had told Kimber long ago that he wished to protect her. He had begged her to allow him to, but the young mare had never felt it was enough. How could he blame her for it? He was young with no land to his name. His mother now held a pretty title that he could live under, but Kimber had never wished it. His father was missing per usual (he had given up on him long ago anyway) and Kimber’s family seemed nonexistent. They were almost like orphans drawn together for a greater purpose, but Askold could never truly call himself that. Mother had always been loving and kind to him. He had been the one to leave her for a sire that abandoned him more than once.

Now he follows this filly around like it was his mission. Kimber was his purpose in life. Keeping her safe as she found her own happiness. This is what he must do. The young chestnut stallion follows behind her silently as she makes her way towards the commons. He knows what she was about to do without having to ask. There was no reason to ask. He can see the loneliness in her eyes even as he stays at his own distance. Askold cannot say he never thought about coming closer or trying to provide comfort, but she had never asked this of him. He could not do anything she did not ask for. Brown eyes watch with a blank stare as she walks out into the open and makes her call into the open fields. He vaguely remembers the last time briefly meeting two young souls around their own age. Mjölnir, a relative to himself, and the young Queen Medusa.

He wonders if he had been the one to stop them from taking Kimber home so this time, he stays on the outskirts of the trees just watching who would approach her first. The gold and white mare that quickly appears is strongly built much like his Kimber is. His eyes narrow the closer she gets to Kimber, but she does not show much aggression which relives some of his worry. Askold could not hear what they were saying from the distance he stands, but he does finally step out of the shadows to illuminate his presence to the older mare. He knew by the way she acted that she had a piece of land and Askold had no intention of leaving Kimber alone in some strange territory. He would follow her to ends of the earth if need be.
