*~My Next Collison Course~*

one hundred miles an hour...

He kept telling himself he knew what he was doing when he decided to leave the safety of the Peak and head back out onto the Crossing. The painted stallion could have stayed the winter in the Meadow or even the icy Falls until the Spring, wait it out until better weather. But a part of him would always be a herd animal and he craved the closeness of others. Losing Rhadra and Lizzie was hard on him. He was just getting used to having someone to take care of again when they left the Peak and now he'd never felt more alone. Bozena was kind enough to offer him to stay in the Peak but Collision knew he wasn't needed there anymore. It was time for him to move on. But to where, was the question?

He wandered past the borders of the Peak and paused to consider his options. Going to Common could open up a whole new can of worms, but it would be faster to find a home that way. Did he really want someone to come snapping at his heels and drive him to another island? Not particularly, but at least he would have a place to call home for the winter and maybe he could get to know the other horses of the herd and make friends. He was an easy enough stallion to get along with. He didn't crave power or want to lead a herd. He just wanted to be useful. He was a good fighter, a good protector. He'd even considered himself a good father figure to Lizzie. He'd yet to father his own children and that just tugged at his heart but he had hope that some day, he would find someone to love and be loved by.

Taking a deep breath, the tobiano took the plunge and headed into the openness of the Common. The snow had already started to cover the ground in a light white padding and he found himself pawing at the surface before reaching down to pull it up by the bare stalks. It wasn't much, but it would get him by, for now. His ears swiveled alertly, listening for any change in the wildlife around him. He would know if someone approached.
