Re(4): Who, ME? You talkin ta ME?

You must not know me like most of the regulars. I got out of radio when I worked at an FM owned by a TV station. THe FM was in the basement of the studios and I was the morning man, swiped away from my ND and morning man job at an AM rocker.

When the station sold, they had to spin off the radio station, so the TV side, knowing I was a veteran reporter of the community, invited me upstairs to join the TV side. The reporting was easy. The hard part was learning now NOT to write for radio but to write to the VIDEO. Luckily for me, the Chief Photographer was patient with me, taught me. and a couple years later, he and I (mostly him) won a NY International Film Festival medal. It was a great seriues and not my first, nor my only award. I learned a lot there and had fun besides.

When you were in TV before cable news penetrated, you influenced a whole third of the community who were TV households.
I was promoted there eventually to News Ops mgr, and I ran election planning. This was at the time TV had bought satellite trucks so I got plenty of experience working with networks and managing major remotes like elections and major stories. I got another job in a similar sized city, basically third in command under the ND and Managing Editor.

I haven't said all this before but I'm really tired of people who dont' know me allege Im some failure and was run out of radio. Thats just not what happened. No I didn't win an Emmy like they always do at channel 9 and other than selling my better pieces to NBC for $300 a story, I had a pretty good time for not going back east. We had no interest in that, our kids were growing, had friends, and my wife had a excellent career.

I only changed markets 4 times, once leaving WHB doing mornign news to become the ND of the station I worked before. THey must not have thought I was a failure, see what I mean? So when some turd in here is jealous or just shooting off his mouth, it doesnt hurt, it makes me smile at his naivete!

I will not speak of this again. The only thing interesting is that at least nobody trashes my wife like someone did to a former BZ talk show host.

Or somebody else who just said his corporation sucked because it was too warm in his studio.

Seriously people, grow the fuck up! your'e just revealing how petty and low lives radio people can be. For the record, the KC market has always sucked which is why its hard to get people to make lateral moves in here. It has NEVER had a good rep compared to markets like Minneapolis, Denver, even Wichita, OK City, or StL. Its a stable market, it's a good place to live, but this aint even close to a top ten market...despite that some of you act like it is. Some people are good here but I judge the people in it based on what they write in here.

I'm not so impressed. Are YOU?

Just sayin.
