First let me say no real 'professional' in broadcasting does, or would hang around in this little corner of retired malcontents and otherwise anti-social beings.
I"ll admit, I mostly stop in here after you cut a fart just to see what moronic assumptions youre' making about me, which reminds me not to make assumptions about you. Perhaps I have better intent about you than you do about me.
When I suggested you might be projecting, I am assuming you live alone, divorced, and yourself, have few close friends. Isolation tends to cause one to slip some from reality.
Nother thing. Sales slugs aren't professionals...you pimp yourself suggesting that youre in a professional occupation. Even I don't call journalism or even computer science (my second occupation) is 'professional'. But I know what they are. Wife and both kids are professionals with all the certifications that go along with them. Good for them. I'm not so arrogant as to take too much credit for their hard work. I'm sure you're as proud of your dau as I am about my two. Does she know what a jackass you can be in this room? I bet not! Mine do know and they're glad I stopped drinking a few years ago. Like when one quits smoking, sometimes, it just all comes together! I wasn't an easy case.
Understrand, you sell. I teach. those are fundamentals of our chosen fields, so don't trash me for going on and on about things to teach, whether in the media or the internet, which actually is also just another medium. My occupation is now my hobby but on the internet.
And I dont trash you for persuading people to buy things, and I'm sure you sincerely think you're helping them meet their objectives. No sarcasm intended. I'm sure you are, tho I woudln't take so much credit for selling all those cars... they also spend a lot on television and it costs serious money to research where their car sales are generated--radio, tv, habit, or just driving by the dealerships with all the flags over their brightly lit parking lots and pushy salesmen! My dad was an adman, so I learned early that market research is a craft that's mostly persuasion and not all that evidence-based.
I think you only blow a ltitle too much smoke up your arse about your line of work, Much more than I do mine...for I was in the performing side too long and have all that out of my system, long before I took a job here in KC. But yes I love to teach what I've learned, and yes, most of what I've learned have been from other people. That's how learning happens.
We both have apparently done well for our retirements. I had more expenses than you, probably, having moved around and put my kids through advanced schooling which wasn't cheap. Those little critters are expensive... oh the charges on our credit cards at KU Bookstore for several years. Luckily, she got instate tuition there in an interstate agreement. Today we spoil our grandchildren and fly too much. You're right, things are better when youre mortgage is paid off and the cars too.
Again good for our retirement nesteggs, tho mine was no thanks to broadcasting for I moved around too much; it was the Academy that contributed to my retirement, a very handsome surprise and I'm working hard to leave it alone but for the mandatory distribution once a year.
I'm fairly confident nobody's looking so far down on this thread, its just you and me. Seriously, Jim, cut the 'failure' crap. It just reminds me of Trump trashing everyone to boost his own ego needs. It doesnt hurt me, bud. I think it's a little pathetic and a lot sociopathic for your issues with me to have gone on for years and you justify it claiming to teach me a lesson to stop practicing MY interest in the media. I dont think what you're doing is all that good on your mental health. You should have learned by now to live and let live and let others havce their little corner of the planet to do what they want without your interference!
Its been kinda fun reliving old rman times with you, but suddenly I have a lot on my plate and will disappear again.
