Re(6): Radio These Days

OK, when I was in college (mid-1970s), I worked in the Electronics Department at Wal-Mart, in Springfield, MO. Part of my job was to turn on all the cheap-ass Capehart stereos when I came in, in the morning. I would tune all the radios to KWTO-FM. KWTO would play Helen Reddy and Tony Orlando and Captain & Tenille and Jim Stafford and Maureen McGovern endlessly, back-to-back, all day long, I don't know what-the-hell kind of canned music it was, but it might as well have been ONE 8-track tape, plugged in in the morning and played all day long. Just like an 8-track, if you listened often enough, you would already knew what song was coming next.

It was punishing. I considered going to the Wal-Mart pharmacy, buying a box of Q-Tips, and puncturing my eardrums.

I'm sure KWTO-FM was the WORST radio station I ever listened to. I have no idea what happened to them, but you couldn't PAY me to listen to that shit again.
