You will never forget

Aries
You will never forget

It shouldn’t have been so surprising to him that Cain didn’t recognize him. His family had been allowed to roam their own piece of the Desert in peace. His family had only stuck together and all he knew was his close relatives. His mother, his father, his older half-sister, and his younger brother were the only souls he knew. Aries has seen the others in the distance, but he has never interacted with any of them. He may have seen Cain close up only once when he was very young. Probably a few days after birth even. It was easy for such a busy stallion to forget who he was.

The amusement in Cain’s eyes does not deter him from trying to make an impression. Since Cain did not remember him, it was important that he use this moment to make himself remembered. Hopefully Cain would just forget he ever ran away yelling like he had just moments before. Aries explains who he was and what happened to his close-knit family. Cain mentions giving his family their space and that the mares seemed weary around him. Mares meaning his mother since she was the only one around. There had been one mare once when he was young, but she disappeared shortly after. It was just father and mother together happily ever after. It was a love story he wanted for himself one day.

He was right in his thinking that father never spoke to Cain face to face. The Desert lead deserved that especially with the two stallions having lived together for many years. They seemed to get along well too, but maybe that is why father had never said goodbye. Aries nods as Cain finished his sentence about new beginnings. He knew his family would be okay as long as they stayed together. Now it comes to the hard part. Aries stares with seriousness in his eyes as he asks to stay behind. There was no way he could catch up with his family now so this was his last shot to have a sense of home. I guess he could go find Scorpio in the Dunes, but being on this part of Salem meant more to him.

A sigh a relief leaves his lips as Cain says he was free to stay. No, Cain says he would be honored to have him here. A large smile spreads on his brown lips, but it begins to fade once Cain mentions his need for a second. It was his dream since last year to be just like his father. Lead his own sub herd in peace alongside the territory leader who dealt with all the big troubles. At the same time this dream made him nervous. Could he really do it? ”Thank you so much for allowing me to stay,” he says quietly before continuing. ”and I assume you would be looking for a second seeing how my father held the position and now he is gone.” The young stallion shifts nervously. ”I know I am young, but it would be a lie if I didn’t tell you I was interested. I have always looked up to my father and desired to be in good standing just like he was.” Though he was nervous his eyes never leave Cain as he speaks.
