My next collision course

The overo stallion hadn’t been on the Common long when he heard the splashing of someone else coming out of the ocean. Turning his head, his brown eyes took in the young draft mare that walked out of the water. She looked nervous, but he could tell she was on a mission. Smiling to himself, he called out and watched as she turned to take him in. Their eyes met and though his didn’t waver, he knew before she took the first step that she was going to approach.

She smelled of some place exotic, so she had to be from one of the islands around the mainland. He wondered what kind of climate she was from. Looking at her thicker build, she looked more at home in a colder place. He thought of the chill of the Peak and smiled to himself, thinking of Rhadra and Izzy and his memories with them there. He still missed them like crazy, but he knew that he needed to move on and do something with his life. He couldn’t just waiting around for something to happen.

As the mare came closer, she stopped before him and he dipped his head politely. “Hello, miss.” He pricked his ears and flicked his tail absently at a stray fly, watching as she looked him over before speaking. Her first words took him by surprise, though the stallion tried to take it in stride. He blinked once and tilted his head, before replying. “Alright. I’ll follow your lead, miss.” He assured her all while searching her expression. She didn’t give a name and he’d have liked to call her by it but it looks like she’d just be “miss” for a while longer.

She added on a questioning “please” after and that made his lips tilt in an amused smirk before he nodded and nudged his head for her to lead the way. When she reached out, he thought at first she just wanted to smell him but when her teeth grazed his shoulder unexpectedly, he jerked a little with a soft snort, his tail giving a quick flick as he quirked a brow. “I don’t know that that was necessary, but um…as I’ve said before, I’ll follow your lead, miss.”
