Re(1): Local, Local, Local…

The only people who talk about the wonders of LOCAL were just never talented enough or lucky enough to find a national syndicator with deep pockets.

Clever stations can make national sound local, just like they can make automation sound live.

Stations like KMBZ can make it sound like they have a news staff the size of a Hearst affiliate.

I prefer national radio, if for no other reason that the spots aren't locally produced and voiced by local airstaff. It was so much better when they had national ads with jingles and voices out of Chicago. Like you hear on the networks.

KC stations were always so KCMo oriented... no one cares what goes on in the innercity when you live in the state next door. On the other hand, a city with fewer jurisdictions in the middle of one state and not on the border, well the news is always better, in part because its just so easy to cover, and all the listeners can relate. Who in Independence cares what goes on in Overland Park? Might as well be on Mars!

Same with radio programming. How long must we endure Dancing Queen?
