News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

Return to Lunar Children
SHE WAS SMILING LIKE SUNSHINE.
IP: 58.172.135.26

Cersei hadn't noticed the unusual mood her companion had been taken by, but she had certainly noticed the way he shrugged off her question about his mother. She nodded, an affirmation of sorts. Cersei did, after all, completely understand not wanting to discuss family matters. After all, her own parents had been...well, siblings. That alone had been a difficult truth to accept, and then she'd learned about what had happened to the rest of her uncles and aunts. Caligula had performed thorough work in what Cersei imagined she considered to be cleansing. If asked about her own parents, Cersei might have shrugged the question off too even if her heart ached and still loved them deeply. Sometimes, she thought, family was just a matter of acceptance rather than pride or understanding.

Her thoughts were interupted by Dell-boy, as she'd come to mentally address him as too. Her curiosity had become a near palpible thing, head tilted and eyes alight with fascinated intrigue as he started to list off those names...Names that neither she or any others had heard in years. Like tiny embers, they lit up pyres of memories in the darkest recesses of her mind...

But just as quickly, her stomach clenched into a knot and she looked to him with furrowed, cautious brows. If his mother had only mentioned such packs...did she not know about the fire from the sky some two decades prior? Had she somehow escaped the knowledge, and the flames? Had her own family somehow hidden from the truth for all those years, living in ignorance of what had taken place? Cersei had been born the first winter after wolves returned to Moladion, and so she had been born beneath the dark shadow of everybody's memories. Even in her youth, she remembered finding remnants of the past, or smelling smoldering earth from deep below. It made her shiver. It made her realise she had slipped into thought for just a bit too long.

She shook her head and looked back to Dell-boy with an apologetic sigh. Mirovis. Ruvindra, her grandmother, had spoken of the pack just several times, but Cersei's father had been more forthcoming with his knowledge. For some reason, Mirovis meant something to Dell-boy -- that much had been obvious to Cersei, for he had been unable to conceal that emotion at least.

"I know those places, by name and through meeting those that once inhabited their ranks. Where you stand now, Dell-boy...It was Mirovis once, with Paracon to its southern borders. That place is Glorall now, or near enough to be so." Her words were gentle, but firm. If he didn't know, then the news would be a shock and if Cersei was honest, she hadn't a clue how to handle that kind of shock. Old Moladion had always been told to her as stories and history, and so she'd never had to face the immense size of the loss herself.

Deathscythe, however, had other pressing matters, and her ears flickered forward as he suddenly shifted between the cave and her. She dared not look behind him, if only to give him comfort in knowing that she was listening closely. A warning? Her brow raised, and she felt the fur along her back bristle briefly with implied danger. It was true that she could call out for other pack members, but how long would it take them to get to their location? With the cave so close too...Well, Cersei had seen the way cougars dragged their prey into dark crevices at times. It was not exactly the kind of end anybody wanted to meet, was it? Still, she remained as poised as she could. Although she was in her twilight years, Cersei trusted in her skills enough to feel at least a flicker of confidence in the face of whatever dangers Dell-boy foresaw in her future.

"I'm sorry about your family, Dell-boy. It was kind of your mother to take you in. She's raised quite the charming son. She grinned and dipped her head, an appreciable little bow of respect to the otherwise-stranger. But as for his next concern...

"Having been trained by Devil May Cry, your mother surely understands the importance of staying hidden only when needed. Assassins, after all, must know about the world enough to navigate its shadows, no?" Cersei had heard tales of the assassins, and had likely even met some herself. As far as she knew, their culture had slowly lost its potency...So, just who was Deathscythe's adoptive mother? "I am no threat to her or her way if life, this much I can assure you, Dell-boy." For some reason, she had her doubts that her promise would mean much to the woman he was speaking of...For her to have him so concerned, she must have been quite the woman.

"As for her mentor, Devil May Cry...He called this place -- Diveen -- home for many years. He left some years ago, however. He and his mate, though his children and descendents still live here and beyond in the other packs..." It was a gentler way to put it, at least. Devil May Cry, Cersei knew, had died years ago, under circumstances she could not quite recall. Could anybody recall them? The Former Paracon-King had been a close ally to Heyel, but he talk of him had been quieter in the years leading up to any open grieving for him...Again, she shook her head. More pressing matters were at hand, weren't they? "If you're to stay put and wait for your mother, Dell-boy, then I must also wait nearby. After all, this is Diveen's territory. I do not know if that title extends to your caves below, but while you wait, you're a guest of Diveen at least. Why not rest in the shade again? I'm sure you've many more questions about all of, well, this." She chuckled and motioned to the canyons around them and the sky above them. All the while, she caught a glimpse of fleeting movement in the rocks above - her daughter, Faye, perhaps - though it had been little more than a flickering shadow. Small comfort, she thought, to know that there had at least been another pair of eyes on her briefly. Though she trusted Dell-boy, the same could not be said about the shadows and darkness behind him.
