GOVERNMENTS
I do still love the idea of governments! I think it is a logical next step for creatures that have the ability to reason and think. That being said I don't think that the government bonuses/negatives need to necessarily be huge game-changers. Some ideas I cobbled together:
- A once per in-game year re-roll for a dice battle
- A +0.25 pt bonus for a RP battle
- A small (0.25?) pt subtraction for co-residents of an island when battling against the island leader for non-leadership battles. (IE if the Arch were to challenge the Cove for a mare, the Arch would take a 0.25 reduction to RP points, but would not recieve the subtraction if they were challenging for monarchy)
- The ability to request twins/chimera once per season for a monarch. If this is too much (I know its a reward for other things too), you could even do it as a chance thing like a 50/50, and you can further specify that it's only if they haven't already been claimed.
- The ability to color request 2x per season
- Ability to claim up 2 horses per week in the Commons (Like Pippa suggested <3)
- Ability to hold a small event once per in game year as a way for residents to earn XP like a random event. I had the Covelympics in mind, lol.
- Playing off the suggestion you had in the dice battles (next point), have the ability to call in your on-island ally for a dice battle
Obviously, some of these ideas are bigger bonuses for a single leader vs. smaller bonuses for a cooperative group of leaders. I do think (if possible) that each government should be different, so as to really make someone think before attempting to enact any particular style.
I do also really love the suggestions that Reba put forth as well, although I would change some of the bonuses from per-season to per-in game year, to avoid a situation where a low level player in an oligarchy keeps their herd safe by constantly having friends defend them. Since you only have to accept one challenge per season.
ALLIES IN DICE BATTLES
I like this idea, but I also understand how it could easily be overpowered. I think making it a prize that could be won (or even a bonus for a certain government style!) is a logical compromise and would like to see it implemented.
CHANCE BOARD
I think we already have some of this in play with the random events, so I'm not sure how a board would necessarily function. I like what Reba offered, although I'm not sure how many of these sorts of bonuses can or should be rolled for.
STEALS
I was never really married to the idea of steals. They hold nostalgia for me, but they were always messy and made me anxious about missing someone, haha! That being said, I also have worries about the subjectivity of judging if a riddle is "too hard" considering we have been actively moving away from subjective judgement systems.
DUPLICATE NAMES
I would prefer if duplicate names be limited to deceased characters, only to avoid complications. I know I wouldn't feel great if I had an amazing character and came back after a long absence to find out that there was another character with my horse's name. That being said, I think if there was permission from both players (even if the characters are both active), it should be fine.
I am on the fence about long-away players. I understand that there is a chance that they may not return and it makes that name forever unable to be used, but I also know we don't have an easy way of tracking "player last seen." If we could do that, then I would be more in favor of potentially being able to duplicate inactive names.
CONCLUSION
Sorry for the late reply <3 Thanks for taking our feedback as always <3 Appreciate you guys :D If we could do another activity for posting and/or for advertising, I think it would help up activity as well.
